girl readingWhat is it to be a beginner? I remember writing my first blog in February, 2014. My new website had just gone live and I identified myself as a Life Coach, Teacher and Blogger in my header. Wow, I’ve never blogged before, how am I going to do this? I love to write so I’ll start writing and that’s what I did and that’s what I do every time I blog, I start writing and the words come to me. I remember the feeling of being the new kid on the block, not knowing what to blog about. I read other people’s blogs and thought, they really know what they’re talking about. What will I blog about?

Every time I blog, I ask myself a few questions. What do I know? What excites me? What delights me? What am I passionate about? What speaks to me today? What is on my heart today? What’s up for me right here, right now, in this moment? What do I know to be true?

Being a beginner means being comfortable in that space of not knowing all the answers. It means seeing things with fresh, new eyes, the eyes of a beginner. What will I learn about myself in this place? What will be revealed to me? What will I learn about others from this beginner place? How can I see myself as a beginner today? What about you? What can you learn about yourself from the beginner perspective? How can you look at a current challenge or problem with the eyes of a beginner? What is available to you from the beginner space? Challenge yourself to be a beginner today!

Oh the curiousity of the beginner. So refreshing and alive and yes just plain curious. Everything is new and the potentials are unlimited.
So many folks struggle with a writing prompt. I don’t think you’ll have that problem at all. Looking forward to seeing what unfolds here on your sight! Yes – pun intended!!!

You included an excellent list of questions! I like to consider myself a beginner…always learning new things and asking questions. I enjoy going to the checkout lines with new clerks just to encourage them on their first days!

Nothing like the freedom and excitement of being a beginner! I always try to remember what it was like the first time I picked up a paint brush and put it to canvas…..I think it is that ‘beginner’ excitement that keeps me trying new things!

Debbie, love what you said about “beginner” excitement helping you to try new things. It’s about that childlike wonder & awe. Little children are so innocent and open and willing to try new things. Yeah for being a Beginner!

I think you’ll always be an authentic blogger if you keep going back to those questions. I love your post!

    Nancy,
What a thoughtful post. I still feel like a beginner myself and I struggle with my writing and what to post. I love the questions you ask yourself, so simple yet helpful. I will give them a try!

Thanks Sue. When I’m struggling with a blog post, it’s not meant to be. When the words flow freely, I know I’m totally connected to my inner wisdom. Ask yourself when blogging, How can this be Easy? How can this be Fun?

Thanks Nancy…..being reminded to look through the eyes of a beginner is the same as looking through the eyes of babes. If you don’t you’re liable to miss something really important. I shall be looking through those eyes from now on. 🙂

Nancy, I’ve been a beginner longer than I can remember. I begin every endeavor by becoming quite still and letting my mind settle. Taking a deep breath, I allow inspiration to fill my senses and speak to me. Beginner’s mind: I know nothing, therefore, I know everything. May you find peace and clarity in beginnings. Much love to you! ♥
