Sometimes I blog about what’s up for me right here, right now and this is one of those times. As I was walking across the bridge at the end of my daily walk, I noticed a large group of people walking toward me. There were women, children and a few men and they spanned the width of the bridge. They were carrying signs and chanting “Hey Ho, Hey Ho, abduction of girls has got to go!” “Hey Ho, Hey Ho, abduction of girls has got to go!” “Bring back our girls, whose girls, our girls, whose sisters, our sisters.” I joined in as I waited for the bridge to clear and was struck by the energy and solidarity of the group. What happened in Nigeria is a travesty, a tragedy, a gross injustice that is not acceptable. We must not be silent! Bring back our girls, they are our girls, our sisters!

I agree, Nancy! We cannot be silent about Nigeria nor the trafficking of our girls here in the U.S. We live next to the I-5 corridor on the west coast, known to be a major route in human trafficking. I certainly wish the media would saturate their programming with these stories.

Here’s praying for their safe return, and no more abductions.
