tulipsExpect a Miracle is the phrase that came to me as I walked in nature today. What constitutes a miracle? According to the dictionary a miracle is an unusual event, thing or accomplishment; a wonder; a marvel; an extraordinary event. Miracles come in all sorts of packages and sizes. They can be amazing, awe inspiring or quite ordinary. They can be small, large or jumbo sized. Today as I walked, I noticed a tiny miracle or maybe not so tiny. I was on the lookout for green leaves peeking through the spring soil. I was rewarded by glimpses of tulips, lilies and crocuses poking shyly through the dirt, tiny green shoots seeking the sun and warmth of spring. Before we know it, spring flowers will be in full and glorious bloom. There is something miraculous to me about the spring flowers coming to life every April and May. SARK (AKA Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy) has a saying “Expect a Miracle” and it is one of my favorites. There is a card in her Living Juicy card deck that says “You Are All Ways On Your Way To A Miracle.” The other side of the card says “Let Miracles Find You.” What an affirming way to go through life. Miracles are all around us. All we need to do is pay attention, be present in the moment and walk in faith.

What about you? What miracles have found you? How can you be more present in the moment, right here, right now? Are you on your way to a miracle? Please share your miracles sightings with me!

Thanks for your comments Tat. Children are truly miracles and we are so blessed to have them. I am also of grandmother of 5 1/2 year old Ana who is the love of my life. She is a miracle and I am grateful every day that she is in my life.

Hema, thank you for your thoughtful comments. I agree miracles are all around us. It’s our job to be grateful for all of our Blessings and then we can appreciate the miracles.

Linda, spending any time at the ocean is a miracle for me. Lucky you that you live by the ocean. There is something so vast, powerful and peaceful about the ocean that it speaks to me in a way that no other place does. Thanks for your comments!

I’ve just been reading about this same philosophy today and I looked around for miracles. I think my children are the most miraculous thing in my life.

And also that I managed to get a break from them today for an hour or so 🙂 My husband had some free time at work and he came home unexpectedly. I could appreciate my children’s miracle-like qualities a lot more after the break 🙂

Waking up every morning and feeling good about myself and seeing my husband next to me is a miracle in itself. Yes everything around us is a miracle and it can only be seen if we’re grateful for who we are and what we have. Heartwarming post dear Nancy:) Thank you

I love miracles and watch for them constantly, yet always feel surprised by them. Isn’t that silly? Right now my favorite miracle of this week is yesterday’s T’ai Chi Chih practice by the ocean. To be in that harmony not only with the others doing the practice, but to feel it with the ocean? That’s a miracle. Yes.

Ok I am really starting to believe in miracles. A good friend passed away earlier last month and as I was walking last week with my dog I was thinking about the talk I was going to give at her memorial. I changed my direction of the walk to lighten things up. So, started at the point of the path (where the two of us ALWAYS walked) rather than at the other, more usual end. It had been pouring with rain minutes before and something caught my eye. A perfectly dry and crisp five dollar bill. Amazing. Ten minutes later I heard myself say outloud “thank you!” Looked down and there was a perfectly dry, weensy, fluffy white feather. Whoa. Gave me chills.

Harmony, I know that story and it blew me away when I read it. I throw my arms out to the side too when I say Miracle find me now. Maybe I need to make that Miracles. I can always use more than one:) Thanks for your comments:)

I love SARK. I think I remember a story from one of her books where she walked outdoors one morning, threw open her arms, and said aloud, “Miracles, find me today!” Not long after, she found money literally tumbling down the street. She’d been really strapped for cash right then, and, as I recall it, the money was just enough for rent. Amazing. Ever since I read that story, I’ve invited miracles into my life, too. 🙂

Aren’t we blessed to be mothers and grandmothers in my case? I so agree with you Lindsay that children are miracles and such a blessing in our lives. Your Jacob and Jeremiah sound like typical little boys full of energy and always on the go. Thanks for your comments:)

I love this and will now use this phrase! My miracles are my two sons Jacob age 4 and Jeremiah is 17 months. Their love for each other and my husband and I is so sweet. They are really the greatest little gifts god could have given us. They are wild and busy, but they have such kind and loving hearts.
