kayakThe dictionary defines perspective as the aspect in which a subject or its parts are mentally viewed; a view of things (as objects or events) in their true relationship or relative importance. Photographers look at subjects or objects from many angles or perspectives. They climb onto objects, under structures, they move up, down, right, left, in order to see things differently; from a new or unique perspective. They let their curiosity guide them in viewing things in unusual and beautiful ways. One of my goals is to explore new perspectives, to look at situations, choices, activities from a new viewpoint. How do I do this? I am a curious person by nature and I tap into my curiosity when I approach new situations, activities or people. I wonder what the instructor will be like? I wonder how many people will be in the class? Who will I meet? Will the subject matter grab me and peak my interest? You get the idea. It’s all about curiosity, wonder and awe. I open my mind and my heart to see beyond what I already know and expect. From this place of openness, I am able to see unlimited possibilities and opportunities. How exciting is that?

What about you? Are you a curious person? If not, how can you get curious about something today? Hint: think like a child. How can you look at a situation or person in your life from a different perspective? What is available to you from this place? Here’s a little exercise to help you come from a place of wonder. Number from one to ten and complete the following: I wonder if………. or I wonder what would happen if……… Let me know what you come up with and have fun!

I invite you to join me at my September retreat Finding Your Voice in the Silence. What a perfect opportunity to be still, connect to your inner wisdom and get curious. Early Bird Discount of $99 until July 31. Details are on my website.

Oh yes … Curiosity is my favourite word. The world is never as it seems and with curiosity the world is a continuous adventure 🙂

It IS excited to see unlimited possibilities and opportunities Nancy. Yay you for holding that openness! Curiosity is definitely one of my strong traits, and I particularly like using it to find connections between seemingly unrelated things. That’s one of the perspectives I find most fascinating.
