winter bridgeAs I read the Daily Word this morning I was struck by the reading on inner peace. After all the hustle, bustle of the holidays, what a lovely calming thought to reflect on. Here are some helpful suggestions I took away from the reading. I found a quiet place, relaxed into the silence, calmed my mind by closing my eyes, focusing on my breath and resting in the stillness, the peace, the quiet. Soon I felt a sense of inner peace and contentment and I repeated the words all is well, all is well and all is well. I could feel the peace deep within my soul. From this restorative place I felt renewed, refreshed and ready to begin my day with a sense of purpose. “Peace restores and energizes me to do what is mine to do. Peace within me; peace around me.” – Daily Word

What about you? What can you do today to calm and center yourself? Where is your quiet place? What is the message whispering in your ear in the silence?

I invite you to join me at my next retreat The Transformative Gift of Silence, Listening Beneath the Noise, at Carondelet Center in St Paul on February 20, 2016. I invite you to step back and claim this time for yourself so you can reconnect with the inner peace within you. Details are on my website.

Thanks for your comments Deborah. I love being by water, so peaceful and serene. My challenge is to do the hand over the heart, deep breathing more often. The benefits are huge, aren’t they?

I was drawn in by the photo you began this post with. I found that stillness you speak about right there. I think I could look at it for minutes and really slow down enough to feel content.

Ah, so peaceful Nancy. I find being by water very calming, and I’m definitely a meditator, but I really like the gift that simply stopping and paying attention to your breath provides. I like to place my hand over my heart while doing it, and close my eyes, and I’m instantly transported into tranquility. Most of the time at least. 🙂

Thanks for your comments Vickie. I support you in going on your silent retreat. It’s truly amazing what comes to us in the stillness.

Thanks Nanette. Meditation is something that doesn’t come easily to me. When I walk in nature by myself, that can be a meditative practice for me.

What a lovely serene place. I wish it was closer – I’m considering a weekend silence retreat this year at a local monastery here in Atlanta- this inspires me to check further

How very peaceful, Nancy. Thank you for the great suggestions. My son and daughter returned to college yesterday and I shall have no difficulty finding a quiet spot now! The house is SO quiet. However, it is lovely to be able to get back to doing things I’ve put off, such as getting back to the Inspired Blogging gang.
Happy New Year to you! I wish you all the best with your Feb. group.

Curiously, I started an interesting month-long “group” online meditation course on Monday. Figured it was good timing with a reasonably priced opportunity to make this a daily habit (have been on and off in the past). Your retreat sounds interesting – I shared it on FB encouraging others to check it out. Not the right time for me as I just bought a house in a state where I have no ties so plan on being planted for a few months getting re-established, but I wish you great success with this venture.
