riverAs I was walking in nature today the words life flows on came to me. I noticed the traffic flowing across the bridge, walkers and runners moving toward me, bikers riding by me, the river flowing below me. The dictionary defines flow as proceeding smoothly and readily, having a smooth continuity, smooth uninterrupted movement, a continuous flow of energy. I don’t know about you, but my life doesn’t always flow smoothly. Life happens, challenges arise, plans change, too much to do, too little time.

How can I go with the Flow today? Where in my life do I need to change direction?  What tools do I have which will help me go with the Flow? Where am I experiencing unease in my life? What needs my attention today? Thought provoking questions for sure. Here’s what I came up with. Listening to my intuition, paying attention to what my body is telling me, noticing my thoughts, letting go of what doesn’t serve me, embracing what brings me joy, focusing on the blessings in my life, walking in faith, living with courage, being grateful. These are some of the tools I use to help me go with the flow, change direction, focus on the solution and not the problem, take action, move forward and enjoy the moment.

What about you? How can you go with the flow today? What needs your attention? What is it to be in the flow? What do you need to let go of? What do you need to embrace? Contact me today for a complimentary coaching session and get back in the flow of your life!

I just wrote about my frustration having to purchase a new phone. I was not going with the flow. These days people buy new phones like they’d by new clothes. This is not the case with me however. I became very frustrated with the whole process until I realized I needed to step back, get quiet, take a deep breath and know that I have the power to overcome any challenge even ones that seem to be out of your control.

Kelli, good reframe! Control what you can and let go of the rest.

I’m getting good tips here. Thank you Nancy and everyone else. I do get up and go to another room or outside, when I am stuck. Sometimes I think I don’t stay away long enough, but will pay more attention and practice that! 🙂

Being aware of how things are flowing is such a valuable lens to look through. These days I’m practicing allowing myself to meet things as they come to me, without pushing against them or straining to pull them closer. Just meet them openly and see what happens.

Deborah, I so agree with you. What we resist, persists. That’s the topic for my blog post today. Thanks for your comments:)

Re-evaluation is key to adjusting to remain in the flow. I practice coming back to my center every day, sometimes every hour and in the moment. My husband is recovering from an amputation and I have had to adjust to doing things for him and still maintain a household so we can function and enjoy our space and our time together. I have found that when things become stuck or overwhelm me, it is essential to detach myself and, literally remove myself to another room, practice bringing my self back to my center so I can re-evaluate priorities and re-dedicate my day. Staying in the flow is a practice. It is easy if you choose it and allow it to be. Much love to you! ♥

Thanks for your words of wisdom Jean! When I am feeling stuck or overwhelmed or frazzled, it means I need to move. And that means walking in nature or stretching or dancing, moving my stuck energy. I love the saying staying in the flow is a practice. I will remember that one:)
So sorry to hear about your husband, lots of transition in your life.

Yesterday, my husband and I went kayaking and were literally going against the flow… the river’s and each other’s. I thought we might not ever stop bickering. Finally, we found our rhythm and began nonverbally merging into a true flow. We apologized to each other and talked about how we could have done it differently. It was a challenge but a good lesson.

Thanks for your comments Naomi. Going with the flow is so much about finding our rhythm. Kayaking is such fun, isn’t it? I love how the kayak sits so low in the water.
