tulipsRecently I had the opportunity to revisit my earlier morning pages going all the way back to 1999. I cleaned out my storage unit last week and am now starting to shred my previous morning pages. I’ve been writing them for almost 16 years so I have quite a few boxes to recycle. Before shredding my pages, I glanced through them to see if there was anything I wanted to save for future reference. I came across an entry from August, 1999 entitled Mission Statement. As I read it again after all these years I was struck by the fact that the mission statement I wrote 16 years ago still resonates with me today. Here is what I wrote in August, 1999. My mission is to help women to claim their power, speak their truth, manifest their dreams and to live up to their potential. My mission is to support women in taking risks, going to the edge of their courage, defining their life purpose, being authentic and clarifying their core values. I encourage all women to celebrate their spirit, open to opportunities and possibilities and to share their unique talents and gifts with the world.

What about you? What is your mission? What are you called to do? What is one courageous step you can take today to move your business forward? Are you sharing your gifts with the world? If not, when will you start?

I invite you to discover your mission/creative calling by scheduling a complimentary coaching session with me. I look forward to connecting with you!

Thanks for your comments Deborah. I need to remind myself of the expansiveness I am creating by shredding and letting go of my morning pages. It’s one spiral notebook at a time:)

What a great mission statement Nancy, and how fun you found your right-fit so many years ago. And yay you for sticking with your morning pages practice for so long – clearly it’s been serving you well. And yay again for releasing the old pages. I can feel the expansiveness of the new you’re making room for.

Thanks for your comments Susan. Letting go, cleaning out clears the space and energy for the new to come in. I need to remind myself of that as I shred my morning pages, cancelled checks and tax returns:)

Nancy, the part that resonates with me is “cleaning out.” Even while living in Italy, I take time to let go of things in my apartment. Now you’ve inspired me to do this with my blog and writing files. PS Thank you for sharing your mission statement and reminding me to revisit my blog purpose.

Thanks Kelly. It has taken me many years to become willing to let go of my pages and I am finally ready to release them into their next life cycle.Letting go is a life lesson for me and I continue to learn one day at a time.

This is just such a refreshingly positive post. I am so impressed by both your lengthy stint of doing morning pages and your ability to let the old ones go. Healthy. And the fact that your 1999 Mission Statement still resonates today. You are obviously living what you desire to do.
