woodpeckersAffirmations are Powerful! According to Julia Cameron, author of the best selling book The Artist’s Way, “An affirmation is a positive statement of (positive) belief, and if we can become one-tenth as good at positive self-talk as we are at negative self-talk, we will notice an enormous change.” She maintains that “affirmations help us to achieve a sense of safety and hope. The universe will always support affirmative action.”

Here are a few affirmations from The Artist’s Way affirming our right to be creative.

  • I have a right to be an artist.
  • My creativity blesses others.
  • I now treat myself and my creativity more gently.
  • I now share my creativity more openly.
  • I now accept creative recovery.
  • Creativity is a blessing I accept.
  • I am willing to use my creative talents.
  • As I create and listen, I will be led.
  • I am willing to be of service through my creativity.

Shakti Gawain, author of Reflections in the Light states the following about affirmations. “An affirmation is a strong positive statement that something is already so. To affirm means to make firm. Affirmations should feel positive, expansive, freeing, supportive and personal. Affirmations should be clear statements that convey a strong feeling. Affirmations should be short, simple and succinct. Affirmations should come from your heart, not your head. Affirmations should always be in the present tense.”

I use affirmations on a daily basis and find them to be powerful and effective. Here are two that I am currently using: I am on my right and perfect path. I am easily attracting an Abundance of  Ideal clients.

Thanks for sharing the woodpecker wisdom Kelli. I chose the photo because I like woodpeckers and I like the composition of the photo. I will take the woodpecker’s wisdom to heart as I continue being present in the moment and paying attention to any synchronicity that shows up. How much goodness can I stand? That’s the question for this week and maybe this month.

Love love affirmations!! I use them as well. I really enjoyed “I am easily attracting an Abundance of Ideal clients”. I’m adopting that one for sure! Also, interesting that you posted an image of Woodpeckers. Here’s a little bit of what the woodpecker means as an animal totem. More available through my site.
Pay close attention to all of the accidental discoveries happening right now. Those little happenstances that come your way. Woodpecker is making sure you are in the right place at the right time in order to notice them. These incidences lead you to all of what is right for you now. Your job is to stay present in the moment so as not to miss a thing. The door is wide open calling in all the goodness you can stand as the heart is being awakened and summoned forward. Take advantage of all the things that lead you to your dreams. Dream *BIG*. Look at how the woodpecker flies with ease and how he can peck his way through any adversity to get at what he wants and needs to fulfill his life. Use this as a guide making sure you don’t stop yourself when encountering challenges. 🙂

Christine, I too, am a big believer in affirmations. I also love the one about being of service through my creativity. Being of service is one of my core values and I never made the connection before between creativity and doing service work. It resonates with me.

Thanks Elda. Shakti Gawain is one of my favorites. I have her book “Creative Visualization” published in 1979, an oldie but goodie for sure.

Nancy, I love affirmations and use them myself and with clients. I love the reminder of the Artist’s way affirmations and will be revisiting several of them. I’m especially resonating with “I am willing to be of service through my creativity.”
