sailboat in the windThe winds of change have been blowing through my life for the last few months and it’s been quite a journey. I knew last fall that I would be moving in 2016 once my lease was up in February. I got serious about finding a place to live once I was on a month to month lease paying almost $100 more per month. That really got my attention. The winds of change have been forceful and fierce causing me to take stock of what’s really important to me.

I have spent the month of May decluttering, donating, recycling, shredding and packing up my apartment. I finally started shredding my Morning Pages that I’ve been writing for 16 years. Morning Pages are three pages of stream of consciousness writing which I do every morning when I wake up. It felt like letting go of parts of my life because that’s exactly what I was doing. I knew in my heart that this was the time to start that process. I was surprised by some of the emotions that surfaced for me. There was a sense of accomplishment for how much I’ve grown, joy in reliving some really fun adventures, sadness about those I’ve lost, gratitude for all the blessings that have come my way and acknowledgment for the wonderful self care I practice. The winds of change have also brought a breath of fresh air into my life, an excitement about what’s next and a sense of faith and trust that I am on my right and perfect path. Change is good and staying the course as the winds have been blowing through my life the last few months has made me stronger, more grounded, and centered. I am excited about this next chapter in my life!

What about you? How do you react to change? Do you embrace it or do you turn away from it? What needs to change in your life today so you can move forward? Where in your life can you use a “breath of fresh air?”

How exciting for you Nancy – sounds like those winds of change are blowing in some beautiful new energies for you! And yay for all the decluttering and releasing. Those things really making transitioning into the new much easier i think. I feel the bigness of your decision to shred all those years of morning pages. I understand there must have been a lot of feelings surfacing as you did, but it’s such a powerful gift to release yourself from the old stories. Wishing you much joy as you start a new adventure.

I suspect change is hard for all humans, of course more so for some than others. I’m one who finds it especially difficult, and yet I also know it’s exactly what brings expansion and growth. I think we should all come with clear operating instructions that say “frequent stretching required” and then perhaps we’d welcome change more easily. 🙂

I think it’s wonderful to lighten the load, Nancy. I imagine shredding your morning pages must have been both difficult and liberating. I find shedding our past creates a space for possibilities of building a new future. I’m enjoying my “now” so think I’ll just appreciatively stay here a while. All the best on moving into a new phase in your life.

I like the idea of letting go of the past. In so many ways, it hinders us to keep it with us. We are always changing and evolving! Congratulations on your big change. I hope it reveals much more exciting places to be!

I seem to be on the same type of path as you Nancy. This year has certainly turned out to be a whirlwind of change that’s for sure.
    Have fun purging.
The donation facilities must be brimming with all of us decluttering. 🙂
Sending many blessings of love and light for you and your new home.

Change can be very difficult, probably for everyone. The decluttering and purging you’re doing sounds fantastic. We really need very little. I’m looking forward to hearing about this new phase in your adventure.

How very refreshing, Nancy. I admire how you’ve embraced the winds of change. Shredding those morning pages must have been so freeing! And clever you, you knew it was time. I need to declutter. Have I mentioned that before? Happily my daughter will be coming home from college soon and she is the best person to help me tackle this job. She’ll be kind and ruthless. I wish you the very best on your new path.

Change is exciting, particularly when it’s something you choose and plan. I’ve recently gone through a process of purging much that shaped my life for 20 years and found it hard, but in the end, liberating. I wish you happiness and success in this new journey, Nancy.

Thanks Nanette. Yes, change is exciting and I am more in touch with the excitement of the move now, and not so much the overwhelm. Life is such an exciting journey isn’t it?
