Where do I belong? What a provocative question. I wrote this in a journal entry a few days ago and thought it might make an interesting blog post. I belong in nature, in the great outdoors. That’s where I am happiest, most connected to my spirit and my soul. Northern Minnesota, anywhere near a body of water, is a favorite of mine.  Be it Lake Superior, Lake Pokegama, near Grand Rapids, or any spot along the North Shore, I love going “Up North.”

I had an opportunity to go to a friend’s cabin near Grand Rapids recently and it was fabulous. We swam every day, went hiking, kicked back and relaxed. It was just what my spirit needed. I feel so peaceful and serene when I am out in nature. The picture in this blog post is one of mine. It was taken at Tioga Beach near Grand Rapids and the water is a beautiful turquoise color. Being in nature is my happy place.

What about you? Where do you go to reconnect with your spirit? What helps you to rejuvenate, renew and refresh?

In my Golden Years, I’ve taken to places with crowds, which is about as far away from the serenity of Up North as one can get. Not just any crowds, however: I like old cities and ruins (major projection?). I like cities that bustle, and in the midst of whose bustle there are, ah! airy and quiet museums.
