How long has it been since you reached out to a close friend to tell them you care about them? Recently, a dear friend of mine lost her husband of 32 years. What a shock to lose your best friend and companion after such a long relationship. My friend has been in my thoughts and prayers on a daily basis since this tragic loss. I find that there is a fine line between being in touch too much and letting my friend know that I’m here for her. I asked her how I could support her yesterday and her answer was simple. She said to tell her, “You go Girl,” and I did.

It doesn’t have to be a devastating loss that reminds us to reach out to friend. It can be as simple as “I”ve been thinking of you,” or “You’ve been on my heart alot lately.” The important thing is to just do it. Your words of kindness can change someone’s day profoundly. Reach out to a friend today.

What about you? Who do you need to reach out to? When will you do it?

Sorry for your loss. Nice reminder to let them tell us what would mean the most at that moment. Most people would not have thought to tell her, “You go girl” and yet she received just what she needed because you asked. Sending love to you and your friend.

So sorry for your friend’s loss. Reaching out, especially when it’s unexpected, can be really special to the recipient. I set reminders for myself to check-in with people who are going through a tough time so I don’t forget. Thanks for the reminder!

I love the reaching out. I am living abroad, and it is interesting to see what friends have reached out to me to send a text or facebook hello. It makes such a difference! I am trying to do the same when I think of my people, but it can mean so much!

I’m so sorry for your friend’s loss. My dad passed away after being married to my mom for over 25 years. It’s hard to imagine being without your best friend, but I love what she said. Go girl, indeed!
