dolphinsThe ocean can be a powerful metaphor for life. This topic came up in my coaching call today with my life coach. She asked me to consider the “Ocean of Life.” The ocean can be a frightening, rough and turbulent body of water. It can also be calm, peaceful, vast and limitless with no horizon in sight. Sometimes I like to jump into the waves, letting them wash over me, playing, laughing, splashing like a small child. At other times I like to swim into the waves, challenging myself to go deeper, to see how far I can swim.  I also like to snorkle just below the surface to revel in the beauty of the ocean and all of her amazing creatures. I marvel at the vibrant colors and varieties of fish and coral which call the ocean home. I am always amazed at what I see when I slow down, breathe and become still. Then there are times when I like to splash through the shallow water enjoying the peace, tranquility and calm that is present in the ocean.

What about you? How can the ocean be a powerful metaphor for your life? Will you go into the deep turbulent water or stay in the shallow still water? What will you discover in each place? What is available to you if you look beneath the surface? Will you dive into the waves or stay on the shore? What is beautiful in the ocean of your life? Where is your life wavy or turbulent? When is it appropriate to float? What gifts does the ocean have for you?

I invite you to schedule a complimentary coaching session with me. Discover how the ocean can be a powerful metaphor for your life, full of delightful surprises and exciting challenges! Jump in, you’ll be glad you did!

I do love the beauty and strength found in the ocean, but it also frightens me. When I step into the water, I suddenly realize just how small I really am…..

The ocean is a good reminder of how small we are in this vast body of water.

Oh how I yearn to visit the ocean this year! I live in Indiana so it’s always so special to feel the ocean’s vast energy.
Thanks for sharing the beautiful metaphors. I am contemplating this.

Kathy, the ocean is a powerful metaphor for me. I love the ocean! Not sure when I’ll be seeing it again, hopefully sooner rather than later:)
