Have you ever heard the saying Stop and Smell the Roses? Here’s another question for you. How can you stop to smell the roses when you don’t even see them? Today’s society does not encourage us to stop and smell the roses. The mantra of so many people is Do, Do, Do, Go, Go, Go, Faster, Faster, Faster. How fast can you go? How many balls can you juggle? How many plates can you spin at one time? How many tasks can you multitask? How much can you accumulate? How can you ramp it up today? How much can you jam into 24 hours? Stopping to smell the roses is all about pausing, breathing, paying attention, being in the moment, noticing nature, slowing down. How long has it been since you’ve allowed yourself to stop and smell the roses? How long has it been since you’ve taken time to journal? How long has it been since you’ve given yourself permission to read a book for pleasure? How long has it been since you’ve taken a nap in the afternoon or on the weekend? How long has it been since you’ve listened, really listened to the sound of the birds singing in the morning? How long has it been since you’ve unplugged for 24 hours? How long has it been since you’ve taken yourself on an Artist Date? How long has it been since you’ve allowed yourself to sleep in on the weekend? How long has it been since you’ve taken a class just for fun? And the list goes on.
What would happen if you paused in the midst of your busy day for a moment of quiet reflection? What would happen if you allowed yourself to sit and daydream for just 5 minutes? What would happen if you gave yourself permission to play for an hour? What would happen if you gifted yourself with a weekend up North? What would happen if you listened to your intuition more often? What would happen if you stopped to smell the roses today? Try it, you’ll be glad you did!

My life is a lot less hectic in many ways right now, but I am hoping to get busy again soon. I was pleased earlier this week when we finally had warm clear weather and the trees in front of my apartment building blossomed. It smelled really nice and I was able to sit on the stoop for a few minutes to enjoy it.
Sounds lovely Scott, thanks for sharing:)
