Compassion has been on my mind lately and I have been contemplating what it means to me. Here’s an exercise I did in my journal recently which helped me define how compassion is showing up in my life today.
Pushes open the door
Now and forever
For me compassion means loving another person totally and unconditionally, accepting them for who they are and where they are in their lives. Compassion is letting go of what happened in the past, moving forward, and beginning anew. When I practice compassion my heart opens and softens with forgiveness. I am released from pain, sadness, anger and resentment. A sense of peace and serenity wraps around me like a warm, soft blanket. Practicing compassion sets me free.
What about you? Are you harboring feelings of anger or resentment toward someone? If yes, what is one small step you can take today to move into compassion? How do you benefit from practicing compassion?
